Topsail Beach is the southernmost town on Topsail Island, and of the five Pender County places on our list, it is the longest drive from our shop on Judges Road. The route runs about 31 road miles, crossing the Intracoastal Waterway on the Surf City bridge, opened in December 2018, then heading south down the island.
Distance shapes how a paint job here is best planned. A single bedroom and a whole floor share the same drive. Grouping rooms, or the full interior, into one booking lets the crew work consecutive days on site rather than coming back for each room.
Painting a hallway this spring and the bedrooms next year means paying for the drive twice, so a full room list matters more here than closer to town.
The Census Bureau's 2020-2024 American Community Survey classes 72.4 percent of Topsail Beach homes as held for seasonal, recreational or occasional use, so a house may well be empty while the rooms are painted.
Age is the other thing to raise early. Of the town's homes, 39.9 percent predate 1980, and the median build year in that same survey is 1985. Under federal EPA rules, paid work that disturbs paint in most homes built before 1978 must follow lead-safe practices.
Paint and wallpaper come from one company here, so a Topsail Beach room that needs both doesn't need a second contractor making the same drive. The painter on your job answers to us and is insured under our $2M general liability and workers' comp. Our interior painting page sets out each stage in detail. The list holds for any home; the next block is specific to a job this far down the island.

A walkthrough before cleanup

At 31 miles out, a forgotten gallon is a second trip, so the plan is settled before the van leaves. Colors, sheens and the order of rooms are agreed in advance, and paint for the full scope comes on the first run. Rooms are then worked back to back, with drying time in one used for prep in the next. Where the house predates 1978, any prep that disturbs old paint is done lead-safe. If the house is empty when we arrive, there's no furniture to clear, and prep starts that first morning. Leftover paint is labeled by room and left in the house, so a later scuff doesn't need us to make the drive. Want a papered accent wall too? Adding it to the same visit saves the separate drive.

Send the full room list, and we plan it as a single job on consecutive days instead of spreading it across separate visits down the island.

Every color, sheen and gallon for the scope is set before we leave Wilmington, so nothing on the job waits on a run back to the store 31 miles away.

Two in five Topsail Beach homes were built before 1980. If yours is one, ask how paint disturbance is handled, and you'll get a plain answer on the first call.

Adding wallpaper to a room? Our W-2 wallpaper installers and our painter can work the same stretch of days, so the trim is painted before paper goes up beside it.
From the first conversation to the finished room.
01Name every room you might paint, even the maybes, and add phone photos of each. Pricing them together shows what one trip can cover.
02We confirm surfaces, colors and sheens, then reserve a run of consecutive days, in a quieter month if you prefer.
03We call before we arrive. On site, floors are covered, walls are prepped and rooms are painted one after another.
04Walk each room with the painter, or review photos if you're away. Touch-ups happen before the crew packs up, not on a return trip.
Your estimate is built from the rooms you list, and you see it before anything is booked. What moves the number:
Square footage and ceiling height
Surfaces: walls only, or ceilings, trim and doors as well
Prep, from filling holes to priming stains
Furnished rooms, or an empty house
How many colors and sheens
Lead-safe prep in a pre-1978 home
Distance is the Topsail Beach variable. Furnished rooms take longer to clear and cover than an empty house, so tell us whether anyone will be staying there during the work. The drive is the same for one room or eight, so a larger booking spreads it further. If you're unsure how much to take on, ask for two prices on one estimate, one for the rooms you need now and one for the full interior. The quoted price stays fixed, and there's 10% off for military households.

Earlier paper stripped and the wall repaired, then new paper hung by our W-2 crew with hand-cut inside corners.

We find and order trade wallpapers, including a pattern to pair with a new paint color.

From our Wilmington base, we serve Topsail Beach and the surrounding Pender County area, plus the rest of the coastal Carolinas corridor.
