Your Home Type, Asked First
Manufactured or site-built, we ask which you have before anything else. Primer and prep differ between the two, and that difference can show up in the price, so a one-size quote would not fit.

Navassa has two main kinds of home, and painting them is not the same job. The Census Bureau's 2020-2024 American Community Survey counts 28.2 percent of the town's homes as mobile or manufactured homes, more than one in four. About 69 percent are detached houses built on site, and a small remainder are attached homes.
In a manufactured home, the walls are often gypsum panels that left the factory already covered in a thin vinyl or paper print. Paint grips that slick face poorly unless it is cleaned, lightly scuffed and given a primer made for glossy surfaces. We would brush out a small test area first and check adhesion before priming whole rooms. Trim strips over the panel joints, and textured ceiling panels, each need a decision: painted with the wall, painted a contrast color or left alone.
A site-built house is the familiar job: taped drywall, filled and sanded, then finish coats. Age matters more there. Of Navassa's housing, 27.0 percent went up before 1980, and older walls and trim may carry several coats from earlier decades. Under federal EPA rules, paid work that disturbs paint in most homes built before 1978 must follow lead-safe practices.
Both kinds of home sit within a town of about 13 square miles, so the drive from our Judges Road shop runs from about 12 road miles, to the town's mapped center near Cedar Hill Road, to nearly 15 for the western section.
You can book paint and wallpaper through one company and one phone number. The painter who comes to your home is ours, insured under our $2M general liability and workers' comp. The full method is on our interior painting page; below is what any Navassa job covers, then what changes by home type.
Walls, ceilings, trim and doors in the rooms you pick
Holes and dings filled and sanded level
Gaps along trim caulked
Stains sealed with primer so they stay hidden
Floors and furniture covered
A final walkthrough, then cleanup

In a manufactured home, the panel face is washed to remove film and residue, scuffed lightly, then primed with a coat suited to vinyl or printed surfaces. A small test patch is checked for grip a day later, before the full rooms are primed. Joint strips are either painted with the wall or picked out in a trim color, as you choose. Where a panel has swelled from a past leak, we point it out before painting rather than hide it under color. Textured ceiling panels are rolled with a thicker nap so the color reaches into the pattern, or left in their factory white if you prefer. In a site-built house, the work follows the list above on ordinary taped drywall, room by room. If that house was built before 1978, any sanding or scraping of old paint follows federal lead-safe rules.

Manufactured or site-built, we ask which you have before anything else. Primer and prep differ between the two, and that difference can show up in the price, so a one-size quote would not fit.

Factory-printed panels do not all take paint the same way. A small trial area is checked for grip before full rooms are primed, so peeling does not show up a month later.

More than a quarter of Navassa homes were built before 1980. Ask how sanding and scraping are handled in yours, and you get a straight answer before any date is set.

Want paper in one room and paint in the rest? One company plans both, and we answer the phone when you call.
From the first conversation to the finished room.
01Request an estimate with your rooms, your home type and roughly when it was built. Send a photo of a panel wall with your estimate request.
02We settle colors and sheens, plus whether panel joint strips match the wall or the trim, and set a start date.
03We call before we arrive. Panels are cleaned, scuffed and test-primed; drywall is filled and sanded; pre-1978 work follows lead-safe rules.
04Finish coats go on, then you walk each room with the painter, and anything you point out is touched up before we pack out.
We price the rooms on your list one by one; painting carries no flat per-room rate. In Navassa, the type of home can move the price a good deal. What moves it:
Room count, size and ceiling height in each room
Surfaces included: walls alone, or ceilings, trim and doors as well
Panel prep in a manufactured home: washing, scuffing and a specialty primer
Joint strips and textured ceiling panels, if you want them painted
Lead-safe prep and containment in a pre-1978 house
Repairs to holes, dings and stains, and any swollen panels found during prep
A manufactured-home room may be smaller than a site-built one, but its specialty primer adds a coat that drywall does not need, so a lower figure is not a given. We stand by the quoted amount. Military households save 10%.

Paper hung by our W-2 crew, with older layers stripped and the wall repaired before the new pattern goes up.

Trade papers ordered for you, in colorways picked to sit next to fresh paint.
